Hi, my name is Joanne and I'm your area advsior for the East Northumberland & Gateshead area (please see the 'Towns Covered' tab for the full list).
I'm passionate and enthusiastic about education and I always look for the same enthusiasm in all my tutors.
I have many years of teaching experience and also give private tutoring myself, in both English and Maths Key Stage 1 & 2 & 3. Also, with my team of tutors covering this region, we are able to offer all subjects and levels to anyone needing tutoring help, from young children to adults. I love my team of tutors and they come with much recommendation. I always strive to be friendly and understanding and to build good relationships with my tutors and the parents and students I advise. And that's what I'm here for - to deal with each enquiry personally and promptly!
By being a Home-School tutoring area advisor, I'm able to help students and parents on a pastoral level as well as an educational one. I love to see pupils of all ages build their confidence and make progress and I am committed to making this happen wherever I can.
I'm pleased to say that many of my clients have returned to me with requests for tutoring for their siblings or friends which is so encouraging.
I am more than happy to chat to you about your tutoring needs, so please don't hesitate to contact me, either directly by phone or email or by the enquiry form below.
I look forward to being able to help you!
Best wishes,
Joanne.

Recent Testimonials from this Area - from parents:
The French tutor you recommended was fantastic! My daughters have benefited so much from the superb teaching Elisabeth has given them. My elder daughter's French writing test recently went amazing: she got an 8- and we all owe much thanks to her! I am extremely impressed and grateful for her teaching. Elisabeth is an exemplary professional and a truly wonderful person. (sent in from Rufayda, parent in Kenton, Newcastle)
Primary Maths Tuition thanks: Joanne has tutored our two daughters (now year 4 and year 6 at primary school,) for Key Stage 2 maths over the past couple of years. Until then, my daughter’s struggle with mathematics was having such a negative impact upon not just her whole school life but also family life too and the homework battles were endless and really getting us down. When Joanne started to tutor the girls, we could see an immediate change in attitude (especially my eldest daughter – who did have the greatest difficulty with the subject.) Her concentration improved and week on week we could see progress – not just academically – but with attitude and concentration and her overall positivity towards the subject just grew and grew to the point where she will now freely say “I love maths!” –something we could only have dreamed of! My younger daughter has always done better with maths but was desperate to be included when her sister started working with Joanne and she is now a real high flyer in this subject area thanks to these 1-1 sessions.
Joanne has a lovely manner with the girls. Her approach is so supportive and encouraging where they aren’t afraid to have a go and get it wrong and even with the tough areas in maths, the girls will always leave their lessons feeling delighted with their achievements and progress. The range of activities that Joanne plan are just super from practical games, online activities as well as whiteboard work, songs and other fun challenges. The girls are set manageable homework tasks that they are always keen to do and this does really reinforce the work done in their sessions. We cannot imagine our weekly routine without Joanne coming along to us to deliver her lessons. We are so delighted with how the girls are doing with their maths work. We really are very lucky to have found Joanne. (Parent of pupils in Low Fell, Gateshead)
Professional and supportive tuition: My son, Jack, had home tuition to support him with his year 9 English, particularly in his understanding of Macbeth and reading comprehension. Jack was very anxious about it however, once he met the tutor, Jon, he soon felt very relaxed and enjoyed the lessons. Jon was very professional and supportive, he helped Jack’s confidence and self-esteem enormously. Jon was always very punctual and reliable and an excellent teacher. Would highly recommend the HST tutoring service. (sent in from Jane, parent in Bedlington, Northumberland)
