Hello, I’m Helen, the Home-School Tutoring Area Advisor and Tutor Manager for Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. I have worked in education for over 25 years. I have worked 1:1 with children with special educational needs, children in foster care, and for the past 13 years as a primary classroom teacher and tutor.
At Home-School Tutoring Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes we recognise that children need to be happy to thrive and sometimes, struggling with education can cause upset and worry. If you feel that your child is falling behind, or are worried they are not achieving their full potential in a particular subject, we are here to help you.
Our dedicated team of tutors understand that building a rapport and building confidence is the key to successful learning. Sometimes strategies such as problem solving, or making good mistakes, how to be resilient or challenge themselves can be all that is missing from a student’s ‘behaviour for learning.’ Our experienced tutors are well equipped to teach these important skills alongside subject knowledge to ensure our learners get the best experience. We will try our best to tailor any tutoring to meet any students’ needs. We work both face to face or online – whatever your preference.
We can offer one-to-one or group sessions, lessons for home educated students or for students attending schools and for adult learners too. We teach all subjects to all age groups and levels of ability; from EYFS to postgraduate and everything in between!
The safety of all our pupils and tutors is of the utmost importance to us and all our tutors have been fully DBS checked and have excellent references.

Tutoring in all subjects and all levels
We aim to offer tutoring in as many subjects and levels as possible. For all ages and levels. Please ask!
We ensure that the private tutors registered with Home-School Tutoring in Buckinghamshire understand the schooling system here and the differences between Milton Keynes and the rest of the county, since Milton Keynes doesn’t have a grammar school system.
Tutoring is provided for students from secondary schools across the county, such as Shenley Brook End and Ousedale in Milton Keynes, Aylesbury Grammar and Sir Henry Floyed in Aylesbury, RGS High Wycombe, and Stowe School and the Royal Latin in Buckingham, as well as students from:
- Primary schools
- Independent schools / entrance exams
- Colleges
- Universities
- Adult education
- Home-Schooled pupils or those having home education for a short period
All subjects can be offered in each area at all key stages, including for: primary level, entrance exams, SATs, the Common Entrance, GCSE, A level and pre-university or undergraduate level.
I have a team of experienced and qualified Special Needs tutors in Buckinghamshire who are passionate about helping students find enjoyment in learning. They understand the challenges that are faced with special needs and aim to reduce these obstacles with patient and supportive tuition tailored to their needs.
